Baka Ang Kwento Ko Ay Kwento Mo Rin

Last May 19, 2019, nag-fly ang beauty ko sa Cebu City together with my two (2) beautiful co-OICs, para umattend ng 49th Pre-Judicature Program ng Philippine Judicial Academy (PHILJA), ang training arm ng Supreme Court of the Philippines.

The training was from May 20 to 31, 2019 na ginawa sa Hotel Elizabeth.

The Pre-Judicature Program provides initial training to aspirants for judicial positions, as mandated by PHILJA’s statutory and administrative charters. It is oriented towards a career in the judiciary as it offers a judicial perspective to the law and introduces the skills, the attitudes, values and the conduct called for appointment to the Bench. All the subjects are approached from a judicial perspective.

Graduates of the pre-judicature program who met the academy standards and upon favorable endorsement of the Chancellor, earn fifteen (15) units towards the Master of Laws  degree at the San Beda College Graduate School of Law. (Bongga!)

Ang highlight ng training ay ang Written Evaluative Exercise (WEE) na parang bar-exam ang dating. Bukod sa result ng WEE, to be able to pass the pre-judicature training, attendance during the entire program is necessary. The grades of all the participants will be transmitted to the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC). We were told na mas malaki daw yung chance na ma-appoint sa judiciary kapag nag-attend ka nang pre-jud. (How true????)

Before the trip, nag-Google pa ako nang mga places to visit sa Cebu City, pero well, dahil sa napaka-daming aaralin at babasahin in preparation for the WEE plus pagod na rin ang aking katawang lupa after ng bawat session, hindi na masyadong nakapasyal at nakarampa ang beauty ko.

We stayed in a place called “The Partridge Guest House” na walking distance lang from Hotel Elizabeth. In fairlaloo, affordable ang rate, friendly ang staffs at ang linis ng place. Nakakahiyang magkalat as in.  We stayed in a room at the ground floor na katapat lang ng comfort room. Iiwan mo rin ang shoes mo sa labas ng guesthouse and you will wear their yellow slippers habang nasa loob ka. I had a great comfortable stay at the place.

First Day

After the registration, the praying of the Ecumenical Prayers for the Court, singing of the National Anthem and the Supreme Court Hymn, Atty. David Ballesteros of PHILJA formally opened the session. He discussed the purpose of the program and the house rules.

The opening remark was delivered by Hon. Oswaldo D. Agcaoili, retired Justice of the Court of Appeals. He was also our morning lecturer and he gave us updates on Environmental Laws and Land Registration.

Ang objectives ng sessions are: to recall the salient provisions of the Rules of Procedure on Environmental cases, discuss the need to sustain our natural resources and address threats to the environment, with a discussion of relevant jurisprudence, to re-surface the mechanics of land registration under both the Property Registration Decree (PD 1529) and the Public Land Act (CA 141) as amended, discuss the importance of Torrens certificate of title as conclusive and indefeasible evidence of ownership and enumerate the remedies available to the aggrieved party in case of fraudulent registration, with a discussion of relevant jurisprudence.

Afternoon session naman was with Dean Pacifico A. Agabin on the topic “The Judiciary in a Constitutional Democracy”.

The session gave us an overview of the relation between the judiciary and the entire political legal framework of a constitutional democracy. Dean Agabin also discussed the need to evaluate the workings of the judiciary in the evolution of democracy in the Philippines as well the identification of the judiciary’s role in a constitutional democracy.

PM Snack (unlimited coffee and tea…yey)

End of Session….

Pero bago umalis, nag-take muna ako nang pictures…..this is Hotel Elizabeth, Cebu City…..

LECHON for dinner!!!

Nagtaka lang ako kasi wala pala silang lechon sarsa (yung parang Mang Tomas he he he), yung lechon ang sawsawan ay suka or soy sauce na lalagyan mo nang sili. In fairlaloo, masarap naman. Pero mas feel ko pa rin talaga yung “sarsa”

Dahil walking distance lang  ang Ayala Center, gora kami para mag-kape….Starbucks siyempre!

Bago matulog nood muna nang Game of Thrones…..

After mag-shower…..lights off na….. yehey!

Na-survive ko ang first day ng pre-jud!

Thank you LORD!

From Central Hongkong we walked towards the Star Ferry Pier as we will be riding the ferry in going to our next destination—-Tsim Sha Tsui!

Tsim Sha Tsui is an urban shopping area and a major tourist hub in Hongkong located south of Kowloon. It has many high-end shopping malls, hotels, restaurants and museums.

Of course this post will not be complete without the photos 🙂
